To-do Lists by Grade
12th grade to-do list
FALL
- Schedule a meeting with Mrs. Hendrickson to discuss plan for after high school
- Meet with your dean to confirm your schedule and goals for the year
- Brainstorm your post secondary options: career, 4 yr college, 2 yr college, trade school, military, etc.
- Set up a job shadow
- Log into SchooLinks and work on your college application manager and request for initial transcripts/letters of recommendation
- Start creating a rough draft resume
- Attend college rep visits in the CCC and fit in a few more college visits
- Confirm your final college list, application deadlines, and requirements
- Oct. 1 & Nov. 1 are first major college application deadlines for Early Action
- Write your college essays
- Research scholarships
- FAFSA applications open Oct. 1 (tbd)
- Talk to teachers, mentors, coaches, etc regarding writing you letters of recommendations
- Decide if you want to take the ACT or SAT one more time
- Attend the all senior meeting 9/10
- Sr. parent college application meeting 9/23
WINTER
- Sign up for CCC field trips, workshops, and career panels
- Continue to apply to colleges. Look for Regular Decision deadlines
- Apply for FAFSA
- Check your application tracker and college emails
- Wait for application decisions
- Work on and revise your resume
- Confirm if you need a mid-year transcript
- Start looking at job opportunities & contact employers
SPRING
- Attend local admitted student events
- Evaluate financial aid packages and scholarship offerings
- Enroll and submit a deposit for your decided college by May 1st
- Start applying for summer opportunities by Spring Break
- Take AP exams
- Complete your Senior Survey in SchooLinks
- Scholarship Awards Night
- Order transcripts from dual enrollment institutions
- Attend all senior meeting in May
- Have a plan for summer and/or fall of 2026!
11th grade to-do list
Fall
- Meet with Mrs.Hendrickon to discuss plan and interests for what's next after high school
- Meet with your dean to make sure you are taking necessary courses and exploring college credit options
- Try a leadership role in your extracurricular activities
- Start your college search: Tour a college campus, come to a college rep visit in the CCC, go to a college fair, and research schools in Naviance
- Start building your resume for careers and internships
Winter & Spring
- Investigate summer experiences, jobs, and internships
- Register for senior year classes
- Continue visiting colleges
- Start building your college list
- Take the ACT at Mounds View
- Determine if you'd like to take additional ACT or SAT exams
- Attend the all Junior college planning meeting
Summer
- Participate in summer experiences
- Refine your college list
- Start your college applications
- Visit more colleges
- Start researching scholarships
